Open Source Veteran to Accelerate FiveRuns’ Partner Growth around Ruby on Rails community

AUSTIN, TX (February 19, 2008) – FiveRuns, the application monitoring and management company for Ruby on Rails applications, today announced that Todd Barr has joined the company as vice president of business development. Fresh from spending the last six years at Red Hat, Inc., Barr will assume responsibility for expanding the FiveRuns Rails Application Management Partner (RAMP) program and will help drive FiveRuns’ mindshare leadership around both open source and commercial initiatives within the Ruby and Rails communities.

Previously, Barr served as senior director of customer marketing, director of applications marketing and senior manager of partner development, all at Red Hat, the leading provider of Linux and open source technology. In these roles, Barr built and grew the partnership and certification programs for independent software vendors (ISVs), achieving over 1,000 certified applications for Red Hat Enterprise Linux in the first two years. In his most recent role, Barr’s team was responsible for building Red Hat's global go-to-market campaigns, along with channel and partner marketing.

Prior to Red Hat, Barr was an associate at Dell Ventures, a strategic investment arm of Dell Inc., investing in private companies in the security and enterprise management space. He was also an early sales and marketing employee at CitySearch.com (now part of IAC). Barr graduated with a degree in radio, television, and film, and an MBA with a marketing concentration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
