FiveRuns™ Releases RM-Install™, Powered by BitRock
Free Rails Stack Jumpstarts Rails Development for Web Applications
RM-Install, powered by BitRock, includes:
- Developer or production-ready stack configurations
- Latest versions of Ruby 1.8.6 and Rails 1.2.3
- Bundled pre-compiled binary packages including Apache Web Server 2.2, MySQL Database Server 5.0, SQLite 3.3, ImageMagick 6.3 and Subversion 1.4 client
- Bundled RubyGems including Mongrel, Gruff, RMagick and Capistrano
- Cross-platform support for Mac OS X and a wide range of Linux distributions
RM-Install is packaged with BitRock’s graphical and text-based installers that guide users through a fail-proof installation process. All necessary configuration steps, such as setting passwords and binding to the appropriate ports, are performed by the installer, so the user is up and running with the software as soon as installation is completed.
“Just as the FiveRuns Enterprise Management Platform makes managing open source and commercial systems easy, RM-Install makes it easy to start building and managing enterprise- ready Rails applications,” said Dean Cruse, VP of business development for FiveRuns. “BitRock’s expertise in integrating open source software takes the guesswork and errors out of the installation and configuration process for Rails, making it easier for organizations to use and furthering enterprise adoption of Rails.”
“One of the biggest challenges of using open source software and Rails in particular is getting all of the different components to work together,” said Erica Brescia, VP of business development for BitRock. “FiveRuns’ expertise and position in the Rails development community will help ensure that our Rails stack addresses the needs of the community and receives the widest distribution possible.”
RM-Install is part of the FiveRuns Enterprise Management Suite for Rails, the first solution designed to manage the Rails application lifecycle from automating the setup and maintenance of an integrated Rails development environment to ensuring Rails applications perform well in production. RM-Install can be used with RM-Manage, the industry’s only solution for monitoring the performance of applications built on Rails, and the FiveRuns Enterprise Management Platform, the company’s flagship solution for monitoring popular open source and commercial subsystems.
